Summer may have started but there was no relaxation in the flood of news coming out of the legislature this week. As such, we have a jam-packed edition of The Press Gallery, as the panel discusses the NDP government’s new plan to fix the child intervention system, a long awaited report on how to address racism in Alberta, and the province’s latest fiscal deficit ($8 billion! And that’s a lot better than it could’ve been.) We also delve into the politics around new safety rules for Alberta farmers. Legislature columnist Graham Thomson, city columnist Paula Simons and education reporter Janet French join guest host Keith Gerein to chat about the week’s major news events. Good Stuff from the Gallery Graham’s pick: Andrew Coyne's column in the National Post around the conundrum Justin Trudeau faces in regard to groping allegations. Keith's pick: A profile of the "Jackie Robinson of Rodeo," who reached the pinnacle of his sport during an event in Edmonton. Janet's Pick: An introspective, personal piece from Kristin Raworth, the woman who accused Kent Hehr of sexual harassment. Paula pick: CBC's latest Ideas radio documentary on whether political satire is losing its bite in the age of Trump.
