The Press Gallery: Inside Alberta politics

Apr 8, 2016

With the economy slumping and oil prices barely improving, Premier Rachel Notley delivered a televised address this week in which she tried to reassure Albertans her government is doing everything it can to create jobs and lift the economy out of this slump. But does this tactic work? Then, an incredible and somewhat disturbing story from The Canadian Press about a man facing charges after he phoned environment Minister Shannon Phillips’ office and allegedly made threats because he disagrees with government policy. And finally, a leaked resignation letter from former Alberta Health Services CEO Vickie Kaminski made waves this week because it revealed she left the provincial health authority over claims of political meddling at the provincial health authority by Health Minister Sarah Hoffman. But was it meddling, or, as Hoffman puts it, simply governing? Join panellists Graham Thomson, Paula Simons and Keith Gerein as they dissect all this and more with Press Gallery host Mariam Ibrahim. As always, the episode wraps up with Good Stuff from the Gallery.
