The Press Gallery: Inside Alberta politics

Mar 21, 2014

Unable to quell the infighting within caucus and quiet swelling complaints about her leadership, Premier Alison Redford resigned Wednesday after two and a half years in the post. Progressive Conservative MLAs tapped veteran cabinet minister Dave Hancock to take over as interim premier on Sunday as the party sorts out when to hold the leadership contest. Legislature columnist Graham Thomson, city columnist Paula Simons and provincial affairs reporter Mariam Ibrahim join podcast host Sarah O’Donnell to talk about this difficult and dramatic week in Alberta politics. Why did Redford finally decide to resign? Will this reunite the fractured PC caucus? And who on earth will want the job of Alberta premier next? The panel manages to squeeze in its regular Good Stuff from the Gallery suggestions at the end of the show.
