The Press Gallery: Inside Alberta politics

Jun 13, 2014

Not to be outdone by other parties’ leadership contests, Alberta’s Wildrose Party is now laying out its own new plans for what it would do if elected as government. Last week, leader Danielle Smith unveiled how her party would fund LRT projects in Edmonton and Calgary. This week, she moved to the energy portfolio, making a pitch to a Vancouver audience for a single, dedicated industrial corridor from Northern Ontario to the West Coast. The Press Gallery’s Sarah O’Donnell, Paula Simons and Mariam Ibrahim talk about what to make of these policy pitches and why we’re seeing them now. Then, Journal reporter Alexandra Zabjek joins the podcast to explain the work underway on the North Saskatchewan Regional Plan and why it is one of the most important discussions taking place in Alberta today. Good Stuff from the Gallery is up at the end of the show.
